Message Hey all,

Helping a neighbor kid with his '92 NA, having a starter issue:

Replaced #3 injector with the dremel method... went to start the car and the starter cranks and then catches and quits. Subsequent attempts will only result in a single crank and quit, and sometimes not even that. If you leave it, it will crank one or twice and stop again. The other symptom is that every time you key the starter on, the battery resets the cabin electronics, stereo & clock revert.

Things I have done:

- Metered the battery, 12.2V at rest. Cleaned & tightened lugs. inspected pos & neg cables... look fine.

- Replaced the starter

- checked 12V lug at starter, 12.2 V

- turned the crank bolt and inspected the flywheel ring gear, engine turns and clutch & flywheel are fine.

- added grounding as per this post: grounding

-pulled and bypassed the starter relay, no difference

- inspected 12V power cable from battery to starter, seems fine. continuity checks OK

-jumped the battery with my Frontier, same issue

What I have not done:

- replaced starter relay in fender well

- traced the single wire off the starter forward

Thoughts?

Thanks,
